Shimla, Feb. 28 -- BJP state spokesperson Sandeepani Bhardwaj has strongly criticized the Congress government over the controversy surrounding the extension of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor's tenure during the monthly meeting of the Shimla Municipal Corporation in Himachal Pradesh.
In a statement here on Friday, he said that since the Governor did not approve the related ordinance and its validity period has expired, the present Mayor's continuation in office is completely unconstitutional.
Bhardwaj stated that the Mayor's two-and-a-half-year tenure ended on November 14 and, as per the roster system, the seat is reserved for a woman.
