Bengaluru, July 1 -- BJP on Wednesday accused the Congress of adopting a "double standards" approach to the Election Commission's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, alleging that while the party was attacking the exercise nationally, it was relying on the same process to determine eligibility for welfare schemes in Karnataka.

Launching the attack, BJP IT Cell chief Amit Malviya said the Congress' opposition to the SIR exercise was politically motivated and questioned what he termed the party's contradictory stand.

In a post on X, Malviya said Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi had described the SIR exercise as a "citizenship test" and attacked it as unconstitutional when conducted by the Election Commission.
