Siliguri, May 18 -- Thousands of BJP supporters poured onto the streets of Kalimpong to celebrate the party's emphatic victory in the West Bengal Assembly elections on Monday.
The BJP made a clean sweep of the three Darjeeling hill constituencies - Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Kurseong. in the elections held last month.
In Kalimpong, BJP leaders and supporters organised the "Parivartan Sankalp Siddhi Utsav" to thank voters for what party leaders described as a decisive mandate for political change. BJP MLA Bharat Chhetri, a former captain of the Indian hockey team, was at the centre of the celebrations as supporters gathered in large numbers across the town.
