Mumbai, Feb. 1 -- The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has in principle opposed the proposed nomination of Parth Pawar, the elder son of late Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, to the Rajya Sabha in view of his alleged involvement in a controversial land deal, according to party sources.

However, the party has indicated its willingness to support Ajit Pawar's younger son, Jay Pawar if he is nominated by the NCP to the upper house to fill the seat vacated by his mother Sunetra Pawar who has assumed charge as the Deputy Chief Minister.
