Guwahati, March 3 -- The BJP on Tuesday announced its candidates in Assam for the Rajya Sabha elections, slated for March 16.
The three Rajya Sabha seats falling vacant in Assam are currently held by BJP's Bhubaneswar Kalita and Rameswar Teli, and Independent MP Ajit Kumar Bhuyan. Their terms will end on April 9.
A statement issued by the BJP headquarters in Delhi named two-time MLA from Duliajan constituency Terash Gowala and cabinet Minister Jogen Mahan as the party candidates for the two Rajya Sabha seats. The BJP has left the third seat for its ally, United People's Party Liberal (UPPL).
