Bengaluru, Feb. 10 -- The Karnataka government's decision to appoint film actor Tamannaah as the brand ambassador of Mysore Sandal Soap has triggered a political storm, with BJP MP Dr K Sudhakar accusing the Congress-led government of displaying an "anti-Kannada mindset" by sidelining local film talent.
Taking to social media platform X, Dr Sudhakar on Tuesday questioned the rationale behind choosing an actor from outside Karnataka to represent Mysore Sandal, a heritage brand deeply rooted in the state's cultural identity and global image.
He asked whether the government could not find a suitable Kannada film personality despite the availability of several nationally and internationally recognised actors from the state.
