Srinagar, Sept. 28 -- The proceedings of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly were disrupted on Monday after BJP MLA R.S. Pathania said that he has moved a no-confidence motion seeking the removal of Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather, alleging that the House had exceeded its jurisdiction on the issue of autonomy.
As soon as the House assembled, Pathania stood up and informed the Speaker that he had submitted a motion for his removal. He alleged that the Assembly was acting beyond its jurisdiction by discussing the autonomy issue and was working against the doctrine of separation of powers.
Responding to Pathania, the Speaker said the BJP legislator had not interpreted the relevant rules correctly under which the motion was moved by him.
