Mumbai, Jan. 12 -- With the rise in rhetoric, the campaigning for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections and other civic body polls in Maharashtra has entered its final phase. At an event in Mumbai on Monday, BJP leader and state minister Nitesh Rane alleged the Shiv Sena (UBT) leadership was deliberately attempting to divide the Hindu community under the pretext of Marathi identity.

Rane claimed that such actions were aimed at pleasing forces outside the country and asserted that supporting UBT amounted to indirectly backing interests based in Pakistan. He stated that votes cast for UBT or its electoral symbol would effectively benefit what he described as their "abba" sitting in Pakistan.
