Mumbai, May 10 -- India's growing emergence as a major global defence supplier was highlighted by the Maharashtra unit of the BJP, while emphasis was laid on the country's increasing defence exports and self-reliance initiatives.

In a post shared on social media platform X along with an image, it was stated that India's defence sector had progressed "from buyer to global supplier", while reference was also made to defence exports increasing "25 times" during the past decade.

The remarks were linked to the broader "Atmanirbhar Bharat" initiative, under which emphasis has been placed by the Central government on strengthening indigenous defence manufacturing and reducing import dependence.
