Kolkata, Oct. 27 -- The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has lodged a formal complaint with the Chief Election Commissioner against what it termed as a "massive and irregular" transfer of government officers by the West Bengal government, alleging that the move violates the Election Commission of India's (ECI) guidelines issued ahead of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

In a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner, the BJP alleged that the state government had transferred 235 officers, including 17 District Magistrates (DMs), 22 Additional District Magistrates (ADMs), 45 Sub-Divisional Officers (SDOs) and 151 Block Development Officers (BDOs), many of whom are directly connected with the ongoing electoral revision proc...
