Kolkata, May 4 -- Election result trends released by the Election Commission of India (ECI) showed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leading in the West Bengal Assembly elections in 164 constituencies as of noon on Monday.

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) is currently ahead in 81 seats, based on trends from 249 of the state's 294 assembly constituencies.

The West Bengal election was conducted in two phases.
