Kolkata, July 17 -- A local BJP leader was arrested late on Thursday after being accused of illegally occupying an elderly woman's flat in New Town, while an angry crowd allegedly assaulted him and pelted him with eggs as police escorted him away. The video of Barun Biswas getting pelted with eggs quickly gained traction on social media.
Police said Barun Biswas, a BJP functionary from New Town, had been living in a flat owned by Anita Banerjee at Eastern Heights in the AG Block area since 2018.
