Bengaluru, May 14 -- Leader of Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Council Chalavadi Narayanaswamy on Thursday criticised the state government's decision to allow religious symbols in educational institutions, accusing the ruling Congress of indulging in "negative politics".

Reacting to the Karnataka government's move to permit "limited traditional and faith-based symbols" along with prescribed uniforms in schools and colleges, Narayanaswamy said the Congress was acting out of political frustration.

"Congress is frustrated with the current political developments in India, and that is why it is resorting to negative politics," he said.
