Kolkata, May 17 -- The BJP-led West Bengal government has initiated steps to upgrade several state-run hospitals into multi-speciality healthcare centres, with party MLA and oncologist Dr. Indranil Khan beginning a series of visits to assess existing medical infrastructure across hospitals in West Bengal.

As part of the exercise, Khan on Sunday morning visited Vidyasagar State General Hospital in Behala and inspected various departments and healthcare facilities. During the visit, he also met the hospital's MSVP(Medical Superintendent cum Vice Principal) and held discussions regarding the existing infrastructure, patient services and scope for expansion of medical facilities.
