Shimla, Aug. 8 -- Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Saturday accused the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh of weakening democratic institutions, disrespecting the public mandate and misusing the administration for political purposes.

Addressing the media here, Thakur alleged that the government led by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu was now "afraid of the people's verdict" and was attempting to obstruct the election process at various levels following the results of the Panchayat and urban local body elections.
