Mumbai, Feb. 27 -- BJP State Chief Spokesperson Navnath Ban on Friday criticised Shiv Sena (UBT) over its stand on the Marathi language, raising the issue on Marathi Language Pride Day.
Addressing a press conference at the BJP state office, Ban said Shiv Sena (UBT) leaders praise Marathi in public but had earlier supported making Hindi compulsory from Class I. He alleged that the UBT faction insulted Marathi people and used abusive language that dishonoured the language.
He named Sanjay Raut and Uddhav Thackeray, saying their professed love for Marathi was deceptive. Ban compared it to the mythical tale of Putana's poisoned milk.
