Ranchi, March 30 -- The Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday announced a Jharkhand bandh on April 3 and torchlight marches on April 2 over the death of a minor girl in Vishnugarh area of Hazaribag district.
Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, BJP state president and Rajya Sabha member Aditya Sahu accused the Hemant Soren government of failing to maintain law and order and alleged that women and girls were unsafe in the state.
He said the party would intensify its agitation if the accused were not arrested within two days.
Sahu also thanked the Jharkhand High Court for taking suo motu cognisance of the incident and said the BJP had already launched protests in several parts of the state over the issue.
