Hyderabad, July 16 -- The BJP on Thursday criticised the Telangana government over reports alleging that students at a private school in Hyderabad's Old City were being taught and asked to recite the Kalma as part of classroom activities.
In a statement, BJP State Chief Spokesperson N V Subash termed the alleged incident "condemnable" and said educational institutions should uphold constitutional values and academic learning rather than become platforms for religious instruction.
He claimed parents had objected to the alleged inclusion of Kalma in lessons for Class II students after noticing related homework assignments.
