Bhubaneswar, Aug. 22 -- The Opposition Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Saturday blamed the BJP-led governments at the Centre and in Odisha for the sharp rise in sugar prices, alleging that the State is witnessing the highest sugar prices in the country and that consumers are being forced to bear the burden ahead of the festive season.
In a press statement, BJD spokesperson and media coordinator Dr Lenin Mohanty said the steep increase in the price of sugar, an essential household commodity, had caused widespread concern among people.
