Bhubaneswar, Jan. 21 -- The Opposition Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Wednesday slammed the BJP-led government in Odisha for the proposed termination of tri-weekly direct flight service from Bhubaneswar to Dubai saying that "it exposes the inefficiency of the government to safeguard the larger interest of air travellers to the global travel hub".
"Terminating direct flight service is a sign of inefficiency of the BJP Government. This decision will affect mobility and connectivity of over 40,000 Odias in the United Arab Emirates. The Odia diaspora is at risk and direct loss as IndiGo eyes ending Dubai-Bhubaneswar direct flight from March 2026", BJD spokesperson and media coordinator Lenin Mohanty said in a statement.
