Bhubaneswar, Feb. 26 -- The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Thursday launched a sharp attack on the BJP-led Odisha government, alleging a complete collapse of the state's paddy procurement system following the death of a farmer in Kendrapara district.

The party has demanded the immediate resignation of State Supply Minister Krushna Chandra Patra, holding him morally responsible for the incident.

Addressing a press conference in Bhubaneswar, senior BJD Vice-President Debi Prasad Mishra and party Spokesperson and Media Coordinator Lenin Mohanty alleged that severe mismanagement and misinformation have pushed farmers into distress.
