Bhubaneswar, Aug. 27 -- The Opposition Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Thursday strongly criticised the Odisha Government's decision to introduce a biometric attendance system for college students on an experimental basis, questioning the rationale behind the move when basic facilities for students remain inadequate.

In a statement issued on behalf of the BJD, party spokesperson Lenin Mohanty said the proposed biometric attendance system was unacceptable and accused the BJP Government of interfering unnecessarily in the management of colleges while failing to address the basic requirements of students.
