Bhubaneswar, Aug. 30 -- The Opposition Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Sunday criticised the Odisha Government over the paddy procurement farmer registration process, pointing out that while farmers in neighbouring Chhattisgarh are being given four months to register, farmers in Odisha have been provided only one month.
Senior BJD leader and former Deputy Speaker Sanjay Dasburma termed the disparity "unacceptable" and demanded that the registration deadline in Odisha be extended to September 20, citing the difficulties faced by farmers, particularly in flood-affected districts.
Addressing a press conference, Dasburma alleged widespread irregularities and mismanagement in the registration process, which, he claimed, began 18 days behind schedule....
