Bhubaneswar, June 16 -- The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Tuesday demanded the immediate withdrawal of newly introduced Odia textbooks for Classes I to VIII in Odisha, alleging that the books contain a large number of serious errors affecting language, factual accuracy and cultural representation.

The opposition party also called for a high-level inquiry into the preparation and proofreading process, action against officials responsible for the lapses, and publication of revised, error-free textbooks before the next academic session.

Addressing a press conference at the party office, BJD Media Coordinator and spokesperson Lenin Mohanty termed the alleged mistakes a "national embarrassment" and claimed they amount to an assault on the Odia lang...
