Bhubaneswar, Nov. 11 -- The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Tuesday submitted a memorandum to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Odisha, condemning the denial of voting rights to Jayanti Chhatria, a woman voter from Singari village in the Nuapada Assembly Constituency.

According to the BJD, Chhatria walked nearly five kilometres to polling booth No. 351 in Komna Block to exercise her democratic right. However, polling officials reportedly turned her away, claiming that her vote had already been cast earlier in the day.

Party leaders stated that Chhatria showed her fingers on camera to prove that no indelible ink had been applied, clearly indicating that she had not voted.
