Bhubaneswar, July 31 -- The Opposition Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Friday accused the Odisha government of completely failing to provide timely relief and assistance to people affected by the floods, which it claimed have impacted more than 20 districts across the state.
Addressing a press conference, former Minister and BJD Senior Vice-President Devi Prasad Mishra, along with former Minister and BJD Vice-President Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, alleged that the flood situation had turned critical while Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi was attending a banquet in New Delhi.
Mishra claimed that seven people had lost their lives in the floods, 1,380 domestic animals had perished, and thousands of hectares of agricultural land had been inundated.
