Bhubaneswar, Sept. 1 -- The State unit of BJP on Monday stepped up its attack on the opposition BJD, accusing the previous Naveen Patnaik-led government of having "wasted 24 years" and failing to translate Odisha's vast natural resources into broad-based development.

In a statement, BJP state general secretary Biranchi Narayan Tripathy alleged that the BJD had politicised agriculture, education, tourism and Odisha's mineral and forest resources while taking credit for Central government schemes.

He alleged that despite the state's abundant resources, unemployment, migration, crimes against women and corruption remained major concerns during the previous government.
