Aizawl, March 1 -- Mizoram has achieved substantial progress in the biometric registration of refugees from Myanmar taking shelter across its 11 districts, with officials confirming that over 97 per cent of the exercise has been completed. In contrast, enrolment of refugees from Bangladesh's Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) remains markedly low, with just over one-fifth covered so far.

According to state Home Department officials on Sunday, biometric data of 27,574 out of 28,355 Myanmar nationals staying in the state have been collected as of Friday, translating to 97.25 per cent completion. The enrolment drive began in the latter part of July last year as part of efforts to maintain an updated database of displaced persons.
