Agartala, May 31 -- A motorcycle rider named Gautam Das has been sentenced to five years of rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs 50,000 by a local court in Sabroom, South Tripura, in connection with a fatal road accident that killed a college teacher.
The tragic incident occurred on December 30, 2022, in the afternoon, on National Highway-08 near Jalefa Shastri Colony under Sabroom police station in the South Tripura district. The victim, college teacher Kirti Chakraborty, was walking with her husband, Tapan Kumar Roy, when she was struck by a motorcycle from behind.
