Patna, July 22 -- The Bihar government has set an ambitious target of installing free 1-kilowatt rooftop solar power plants in 2.5 lakh households belonging to Below Poverty Line (BPL) and other low-income families by November this year.
South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (SBPDCL) Managing Director Saurabh Jorwal told news persons here on Wednesday that the state government would bear the entire cost of installing the solar power systems, ensuring that eligible beneficiaries receive the facility without any financial burden.
"The objective is to provide clean, affordable and reliable electricity to economically weaker sections while promoting renewable energy across the state," he said.
