Patna, July 28 -- Bihar Legislative Assembly Speaker Prem Kumar on Tuesday expressed concern over the discharge of chemically contaminated wastewater from the Sudha Dairy plant in Muzaffarpur, saying it was adversely affecting public health, agricultural land, the environment and the district's renowned litchi cultivation.

The issue was reviewed during a meeting convened by the Speaker with officials of the Bihar State Milk Cooperative Federation Limited (COMFED) and Sudha Dairy. The discussion followed a Call Attention Motion of legislators Ajit Kumar and Arun Kumar regarding the environmental impact of untreated effluents from the dairy plant.
