Patna, May 27 -- Adopting stringent security measures, the Bihar government today sounded a statewide alert ahead of Bakrid, directing all district authorities and police units to intensify surveillance, preventive action and patrolling to ensure peaceful celebrations across the state.

Chairing a high-level review meeting through video conferencing with District Magistrates, Superintendents of Police, Deputy Inspectors General and Inspectors General of Police, the Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit instructed them to keep the entire administrative machinery in "alert mode" during the festival.
