Patna, April 5 -- Bihar Agriculture Minister Ram Kripal Yadav today urged farmers to limit the use of chemical pesticides, warning that excessive and indiscriminate usage poses serious risks to crop quality, human health and the environment.

He appealed to farmers to use pesticides strictly in recommended quantities and adopt safe farming practices. The minister cautioned that overuse of pesticides leads to increased residue in food products, which can cause serious diseases, including cancer.

Yadav said pesticide residues not only harm human health but also pollute the environment and adversely affect the quality of animal-based products such as milk, curd, and meat.
