Patna, Aug. 21 -- Leader of Opposition in Bihar Assembly and RJD national working President Tejaswi Yadav Friday alleged that Bihar is in a serious financial crisis with the state's public debt rising more than fourfold and its fiscal position deteriorating sharply.

Yadav claimed here that the state's financial condition had become so precarious that funds were not available on time for payments to government employees and pensioners, social security pensions, dues to contractors and various developmental works.

He also alleged that the amount available under the Student Credit Card scheme had been reduced and scholarships were being discontinued.
