Patna, Aug. 29 -- The Bihar government safely rescued around 100 pilgrims from Maharashtra who were stranded in Kathmandu following a sudden flash flood in Nepal and sent them back to their home state by train, officials said on Saturday.
The rescue operation was carried out at the request of the Maharashtra government as part of a humanitarian and sensitive response by the Bihar government.
Acting on the directions of the Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and under the continuous supervision of the Chief Secretary and Principal Secretary, Disaster Management Department, the Sitamarhi district administration swiftly evacuated the pilgrims from the Nepal border on Friday and safely escorted them to Sitamarhi.
