Patna, Aug. 29 -- The Bihar government has evacuated about 100 pilgrims from Maharashtra who were stranded in Kathmandu after flash floods in Nepal and arranged for their return home by train, officials said on Saturday.
The evacuation was carried out at the request of the Maharashtra government, with Bihar authorities coordinating the operation on humanitarian grounds, officials said.
The Sitamarhi district administration escorted the pilgrims from the Nepal border to Sitamarhi on Friday following directions from Bihar's chief minister and under the supervision of Chief Secretary and the Principal Secretary, Disaster Management Department and other senior state officials.
