Kishanganj, Oct. 11 -- A police constable posted with Dial 112 allegedly died by suicide after shooting himself inside the police barracks on the premises of Kishanganj Sadar Police Station on Sunday.
Police said that according to preliminary information, the constable was speaking to his wife over the phone shortly before the incident. The sound of gunfire triggered panic among police personnel at the station. The injured constable was rushed to Sadar Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
The deceased has been identified as Sameer Kumar, a resident of Bhagalpur district.
Following the incident, Superintendent of Police Santosh Kumar reached the spot, inspected the scene and reviewed the circumstances surrounding the death.
