Patna, Jan. 13 -- The Bihar Cabinet on Tuesday approved an advance of Rs 30 crore to the Bihar Advocate Welfare Trust Committee for strengthening welfare measures for advocates across the state.

After the meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the Additional Chief Secretary Cabinet Arvind Chaudhary told news persons here that the fund had been sanctioned from the State Contingency Fund. The decision was taken to provide financial assistance to the Trust Committee with the aim of ensuring social security and welfare benefits for lawyers practising in Bihar.

The move is expected to help the committee meet its obligations towards advocates, particularly those in need of support.
