Patna, July 4 -- The Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi has sentenced BJP MLA Raju Kumar Singh, who represents Sahebganj in Bihar, to four years' rigorous imprisonment in a seven-year-old celebratory firing case. The court also directed him to pay Rs 25 lakh in compensation to the husband of the deceased woman.

The case relates to New Year's Eve celebrations on 31 December, 2018, when a bullet fired during celebratory gunfire struck Dr. Archana Gupta, resulting in her death.

On June 6, the court found Raju Kumar Singh guilty in the case.

However, his wife, Renu Singh, along with Rana Rajesh Singh and Ramendra Singh, was acquitted of all charges. The court held that there was not enough evidence to establish their guilt.
