Motihari, June 6 -- In a case highlighting the growing threat of cyber-enabled crime, police rescued a kidnapped youth within two hours after criminals allegedly lured him into a trap by posing as a girl on WhatsApp and later demanded a ransom of Rs 2 lakh from his family in East Champaran district.
Police said here today that one Rajkishore Ram, a resident of Banki Tikam village under the Madhuban police station area, informed authorities that his son, Roshan Kumar, had been abducted. The kidnappers allegedly sent a UPI QR code from the victim's mobile phone and demanded Rs 2 lakh for his release.
