Patna, June 15 -- The special CBI court in Patna today sentenced a transporter to three years rigorous imprisonment in the three-decade-old Bihar bitumen (alkatara) scam case.
Special CBI Judge Mohammad Rustam also slapped a a fine of Rs 17 lakh against the convict.
The judge awarded the sentence to transporter Dudheshwar Nath Singh alias D.N. Singh after finding him guilty of embezzlement and cheating under various provisions of the Indian Penal Code. The court also ordered that he would have to undergo an additional four months of imprisonment if he fails to pay the fine.
