Patna, Aug. 2 -- Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor on Sunday accused Patna Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of playing an "anti-democratic" role during the Bankipur Assembly bypoll, alleging that several of his party's key workers were taken into preventive custody ahead of polling.

Kishor told news persons here that the Patna SSP''s office had stated that persons from other districts were detained as a precautionary security measure. Refuting the claim, he presented before the media several individuals who, he said, were residents of Patna district and registered voters of the Bankipur Assembly constituency.
