Patna, May 12 -- In a major crackdown on child trafficking and exploitation through orchestra groups in Bihar, more than 40 minor girls were rescued and 22 persons arrested during a nightlong operation in Gopalganj district.
Officials sources here today said that the operation was conducted jointly by Bihar Police, officials of Kuchaukot police station, Patna Police Headquarters, Association for Voluntary Action and Narayani Sewa Sansthan, both partners of Just Rights for Children, a nationwide child protection network.
The rescue operation was led by the Additional Director General of Police (Weaker Section) Amit Kumar Jain and Superintendent of Police Vinay Tiwari.
