Patna, March 3 -- Bihar's ruling NDA on Tuesday declared Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) president Upendra Kushwaha as its fifth candidate for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections from the state.
RLM's Bihar unit president Nitin Bharti said in a statement here that Kushwaha, a sitting MP whose term is set to expire, would file his nomination papers on March 5 for the Rajya Sabha biennial elections.
A decision to this effect was taken after consultation with the BJP leadership and other constituents of NDA, Bharti added.
Earlier, the BJP announced its two candidates, leaving the space for two nominees from JD(U).
Five seats are up for grabs in the upcoming polls in the state.
