Sasaram, May 4 -- Altogether five people were killed in Mathiya village under the Dinara police station area in Rohtas district late last night.
Police said here on Monday that the accident took place when the victims were returning from a tilak ceremony, a pre-wedding function held in Lodhi village under Chenari police station area.
The group had just alighted from a bus and were trying to cross the road when a speeding container truck rammed into a pickup van nearby. The truck then lost control, collided with the bus, and ran over the pedestrians.
All five victims died on the spot. The deceased include Ashok Singh, father of the bride, whose family had gone to attend the ceremonial function.
