Patna, Feb. 12 -- The long-pending ambitious Indrapuri reservoir project involving the Sone river is set to take off, facilitating increased irrigated area in eight districts of Bihar as deadlock was cleared over Bansagar agreement signed in 1973 by Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, according to Bihar Water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary.

The Minister's reply came in the Assembly during a debate on the budgetary demand for the financial year 2026-27 of his department. He said the Bansagar agreement was signed in 1973 by three states -- Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh -- for adequate utilisation of Sone water. As per agreement , the united Bihar was allotted 7.75 Million Acre Fit (MAF), he added.
