Patna, Aug. 31 -- In a significant development towards resolving the long-pending dispute over the sharing of Sone River water, the governments of Bihar and Jharkhand on Monday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in New Delhi, paving the way for a formal settlement of the issue that has remained unresolved for more than 25 years.
The MoU was signed at Kartavya Bhavan in the presence of union Home Minister Amit Shah, union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil, Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister in-charge of Water Resources Vijay Kumar Choudhary.
