Bengaluru, July 1 -- Karnataka's ambitious Greater Bangalore Integrated Township project has come under judicial scrutiny after a public interest litigation (PIL) challenged the acquisition of more than 516 acres of agricultural land, alleging violations of land acquisition law, environmental safeguards and the state government's own regional development policy.
The petition, filed before the Karnataka High Court by social activist Rajesh Kamplapura Basavanna, seeks to quash the June 13 final notification issued for land acquisition and stay all proceedings related to the proposed Bidadi Township project, describing it as a legally flawed and environmentally unsustainable exercise.
