Mumbai, May 12 -- Joining the Prime Minister's call for national frugality, Maharashtra Food and Civil Supplies Minister Chhagan Bhujbal has urged citizens to practice strict "belt-tightening" regarding fuel and essential commodities.
Bhujbal highlighted that the escalating conflict between Iran and the United States has triggered a global energy shortage, leaving India-a country without vast oil reserves-vulnerable to price volatility.
Bhujbal noted that while neighboring nations and global powers like Japan are reeling from record price hikes, India has remained "exceptionally resilient".
