Bhubaneswar, April 13 -- Odisha Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy on Monday described Bhubaneswar as the "face of the state" and appealed to citizens to actively contribute to the development of the capital city.

Addressing the 78th Capital Foundation Day celebrations held with grandeur, the Speaker emphasized collective responsibility in shaping the future of Bhubaneswar.

Sharing her personal memories and long association with the city since childhood, she called for stronger public participation in its growth.

Padhy recalled that Bhubaneswar was established as the capital on April 13, 1948, when the foundation plaque was unveiled by then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.
